GENERAL MISSION:
The Chief Accountant is responsible for all accounting, financial and personnel issues, including, but not limited to: financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliation, account receivable processing, accounts payable processing, payroll processing, taxes, VN reporting requirements at the company. She/he insure the timely and accurate reporting of all financial information within the company. His/her must provide support and information to the General Manager on all financially related issues of the company. It is their responsibility to insure that all controls are in place to guarantee the security of the company assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND MEANS:
Responsible for control of all confidential and financially related information of the Company.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Security/Confidentiality: Handle highly confidential financial, employee, corporate data, legal and tax information on a daily basis.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Handle all general and administrative matters, including financial and accounting issues.
• Provide direction and instruction to accounting staff based on Corporate guidelines, correspondence and discussion.
• Compliance with the internal accounting controls as prescribed by the company Accounting Policies and Procedures.
• Establish detailed guidelines and procedures on all financial accounting and administrative matters, in accordance with the Operating Standards.
• Assist the General Manager in preparation of the Monthly Reports, and provide timely information and reports as required.
• Assist the General Manager in compiling the annual budget and business plan.
• Review daily cash position and submit weekly cash position to the corporate office.
• Review and inform the General Manager and the Corporate Office on current tax law and regulations and act as coordinator for the General Manager and corporate office with external tax, legal and government bodies.
• Monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts on the general ledger and the monthly preparation of the company financial statements.
• Controlling physical inventory by directing and supervising the monthly inventory.
• Compute and prepare all local reports, tax returns and tax payments on a timely basis.
• Maintain fixed asset records and organize physical count of assets on an annual schedule as determined by the corporate office
• Insure that adequate insurance coverage is maintained for all aspects of the business including assets, business interruptions and public liability.
• Coordinate purchasing function and when required negotiate prices on behalf of the company.
• Coordinate personnel and payroll functions, including enrollment of new employees and development of staff regulation and procedures.
• Assist the Department Heads with meetings in the areas of communication and coordination of other departments’ business that would affect the operations of the Accounting Department.
• Maintain good relations with Government officials, banker’s lawyers, tax and landlord representatives.
• Insure that all efforts are made to retrieve outstanding receivables.
• Builds teamwork and staff morale in the department.
• Is responsible for the interviewing / recruitment / hiring / terminating of staff within the department.
• Handle disciplinary actions.
• Control departmental Human Resources issues and procedures.
• Prepare the schedule of the staff.
• To conduct periodic (half-yearly) staff performance appraisal.
• Organize periodical meetings and communicates with all departmental staff.
• Guides / coaches / motivates staff to provide a high level of service to the resort guest.
• To be responsible for the selection / training / development of staff with an eye towards maximum productivity and customer satisfaction.
• To attend all assigned training programs.
• To draw up and update the job deion of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
HUMAN RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To ensure that needed on-job/outside training for all employees of the department is provided, enable personnel to temporarily fill another position during a regular employee's absence.
• To motivate all employees of the department and to encourage consistent job performance
• Have a good relationship with all colleagues.
• Be understanding, supportive, encouraging and helpful to all.

WORK CHARACTERISTICS:
Must be able to work independently with little supervision, as well as have the ability to consider, evaluate and make sound business decisions regarding question as problem solving. Performs management functions of scheduling staff / monitoring and evaluating work performance / praises and disciplines staff as appropriate. Coordinate department’s activities to facilitate high levels of inter- departmental communication & cooperation / guest satisfaction.
Must be familiar with all company procedures, regulations.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
At least 5 years experience handling all accounting. Must be familiar with accounting laws, regulations and generally accepted accounting principles within the country. Must be computer proficient. Must be fluent in English (both verbal and written).
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or Business/Finance related field, or equivalent work experience. Certification/License: No
TRAINING:
On-going knowledge of changes in accepted accounting, legal and tax requirement. Networking with other accountants in similar capacities to stay on top of changes in the industry.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Based on an annual evaluation by the General Manager. Basis for evaluation will consider the ability to perform the job functions and handle special projects as assigned. The outcome of all annual external and governmental audits will factor into the evaluation, as well as the ability.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment: Indoor, office environment. Standard company business hours must be maintained. Additional hours necessary to provide support for special functions that require the assistance of a Chief Accountant. Professional working environment.
Time to work: 08:00 - 17:00, from Monday to Friday and 1/2 day on Saturday.
