A Senior Apparel Pattern Maker is a highly skilled professional responsible for creating precise patterns, and consumption for garment production. This role requires a deep understanding of garment construction, fabric properties, and design principles.
Responsibilities
1. Pattern Creation: Developing initial patterns based on designers' sketches, specifications, or existing samples.
2. Fit Analysis: Conducting fit sessions and making necessary adjustments to patterns to ensure optimal fit and comfort.
3. Grading: Grading patterns to create different sizes while maintaining the design's integrity and fit.
4. Consumption Calculation: Accurately calculating the amount of fabric and trim required for each garment based on patterns, designs, and production methods.
5. Material Optimization: Analyzing and optimizing fabric and trim usage to reduce waste and control costs.
6. Collaboration: Working closely with designers, sample makers, and production teams to ensure patterns are feasible for production and meet design intentions.
7. Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of pattern adjustments, fit comments, and specifications for future reference.
8. Quality Control: Ensuring that patterns meet quality standards and production requirements.
9. Creativity: Ability to interpret designers' visions and translate them into accurate patterns.
10. Time Management: Efficiently managing time to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
11. Teamwork: Collaborative approach to work effectively with various departments, including design, sampling, and production.

1. Degree/Diploma: A degree or diploma in fashion design, apparel technology, pattern making, or a related field.
2. Certifications: Additional certifications in advanced pattern making, garment technology, or CAD software for pattern making can be beneficial.
Experience
1. Work Experience: Extensive experience in pattern making, typically 5-10 years, with a proven track record of creating patterns for various types of garments.
2. Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of different fabrics, garment construction techniques, and grading for different sizes.
Skills
1. Technical Skills: Proficiency in traditional and digital pattern-making techniques. Skilled in using pattern-making software such as Gerber, Lectra, or Optitex.
2. Work Experience: Several years of experience in fabric and trim consumption calculation, typically a minimum of 3, within the fashion or textile industry.
3. Attention to Detail: Precision in creating patterns that ensure a perfect fit and optimal garment construction.
4. Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with designers, garment technologists, and production teams to ensure that patterns meet design specifications and production requirements.
5. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve issues related to fit, construction, and production.
6. Mathematical Skills: Good mathematical skills for accurate measurements, grading, and adjustments.
