Sewing Mechanic Technician

The Sewing Mechanic Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all sewing machines and related equipment within the production facility. This role ensures that all machines operate efficiently, safely, and in accordance with production standards to minimize downtime and maintain product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Machine Maintenance and Repair

o Perform routine and preventive maintenance on sewing machines (e.g., Juki, Brother, Pegasus, Kansai).

o Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in sewing equipment.

o Adjust settings such as tension, stitch length, feed, and presser foot according to style requirements.

• Installation and Setup

o Set up new machines based on production requirements.

o Install and calibrate machine attachments such as folders, binders, and cutters.

• Troubleshooting

o Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimize downtime.

o Identify root causes of machine issues and recommend long-term solutions.

• Documentation and Reporting

o Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts replaced, and maintenance performed.

o Report recurring problems to supervisors and suggest process or equipment improvements.

• Safety and Compliance

o Ensure all repairs and maintenance work comply with safety regulations.

o Keep work area clean and safe.

• Support and Training

o Assist in training sewing operators on proper machine handling to prevent misuse.

o Coordinate with line supervisors for machine changes or upgrades based on product changes.

• Education:

o Technical diploma or certificate in mechanical/electrical maintenance, textile machinery, or related field.

• Experience:

o Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on experience with industrial sewing machines in a garment factory.

• Technical Skills:

o Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

o Familiarity with lockstitch, overlock, flatlock, chainstitch, bartack, and other industrial sewing machines.

o Understanding of pneumatic and electronic sewing systems is a plus.

• Soft Skills:

o Attention to detail.

o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

o Good communication and time-management skills.
