About The French Bakery Project of IECD
The French Bakery is an IECD initiative in HCMC, focused on producing high-quality French-style baked goods while supporting a social mission of vocational training and development. We are committed to providing authentic, exceptional quality bakery products and offering valuable training opportunities to apprentices.
1. Position Summary
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Bakery Commis to join our team. In this role, you will support the Bakery Chef in the daily production of French-style breads, viennoiseries, and pastries. You will also assist with maintaining quality standards, ensuring proper cleanliness, and helping with the smooth functioning of the kitchen during the night shift. The Bakery Commis will be responsible for preparing ingredients, assisting in the baking process, and ensuring the bakery’s products meet high-quality standards.

Transversal Team: Bakery Trainer Chef, Sales and Admin Officer
2. Key Responsibilities
2.1 Assisting in Baking Production:
Help prepare ingredients and assist in baking a variety of French bakery items such as breads, pastries, and viennoiseries.
Ensure proper mixing, shaping, and baking techniques to support the creation of consistent, high-quality products.
Assist with inventory management, ensuring ingredients are fresh and prepared in accordance with bakery needs.
2.2 Quality Control Support:
Support the Bakery Chef in maintaining the quality of products, ensuring they meet established standards.
Monitor the quality of baked goods throughout the process and communicate any discrepancies or potential issues to the Bakery Chef.
2.3 Kitchen Support
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the bakery, ensuring all tools, utensils, and workstations are sanitized and organized.
Follow hygiene and safety regulations at all times to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Assist in the preparation of raw materials, including measuring and portioning ingredients for various baked goods.
2.4 Commis Supervision
Work closely with the Bakery Chef and Commis 1 to follow established procedures and improve your skills in various aspects of bakery production.
Learn and apply bakery techniques as directed by the Bakery Chef to grow in the position and contribute to the bakery's success.
2.5 Supporting Team Operations
Participate in team activities to ensure smooth daily operations, including helping to manage work schedules and coordinate with other staff.
Maintain good communication with team members and other departments to ensure efficiency in operations.
3. Working Hours
Shift: This position requires night-shift work, starting from approximately 2:00 AM or 3:00 AM to ensure the freshness of bakery items.
Hours: Working hours comply with Vietnamese labor laws, and any overtime will be compensated according to these regulations.
Qualifications
1. Education and Experience
- A culinary degree or formal training in bakery arts is preferred, but not required.
- Some experience in a professional bakery or food production environment is desirable but not mandatory. Fresh graduates with a passion for baking are also encouraged to apply.
2. Skills and Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of baking techniques, particularly French baking styles (training can be provided).
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced, organized kitchen environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Familiarity with hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen.
