Job Summary:
The Garment Sample Maker is responsible for creating high-quality garment samples based on design specifications, patterns, and technical packages. This role plays a crucial part in the product development process, ensuring that samples meet design intent, fit, and construction standards before bulk production.
Key Responsibilities:
• Interpret technical packs (tech packs), patterns, and design sketches to construct accurate garment samples.
• Sew full garment prototypes using various industrial sewing machines (e.g., lockstitch, overlock, coverstitch).
• Collaborate with designers, pattern makers, and technical teams to resolve construction issues.
• Ensure accuracy in garment fit, construction quality, and finishing details.
• Recommend construction improvements to enhance garment appearance and production efficiency.
• Maintain sample quality standards and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Make necessary alterations to samples based on feedback from fittings or technical reviews.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the sample room.
• Provide feedback to the pattern team on potential issues for mass production.
• High school diploma or vocational training in garment construction or fashion design.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a sample maker in the garment or apparel industry.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, trims, and sewing techniques.
• Proficient in operating a variety of industrial sewing machines. (Lockstitch, Interlock machine, Overlock, Gartering Machine, Zigzag, Buttonhole / Button Sew, Smocking machine, Blind-stitch, and Snap machine.)
• Ability to read and interpret tech packs and garment specifications.
• Detail-oriented with excellent hand-eye coordination and craftsmanship.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Experience working with both woven and knit garments in a different category. (Active-wear, Outerwear, Jacket, T-shirts, Shirts, Skirt, Trouser, Jeans, Dress, Swim shorts, Tank top with Binding.)
• Understanding of production processes.
