Electrical Engineer

Overall Position Summary

Electrical Engineer, under moderate supervision, performs a variety of routine, skilled & semi-skilled troubleshooting, maintenance, modification and repair work in assigned maintenance operations areas such as maintenance, replacement and repair of electrical equipment onboard the rig to ensure the maximum efficiency of rig operation.

Electrical Engineer is the experienced level class in the Electrical job series, and incumbents are capable of performing a wide variety of work. The class is distinguished from the Senior Electrical Engineer in that the latter is an advanced-journey level, responsible for performing complex and advanced skilled work in a specific area of expertise. It is further distinguished from the class of Trainee Engineer by the latter’s assignment to act as a learner in the electrical maintenance field.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

1. Electrical Maintenance (90%)

• Perform the day-to-day maintenance, repair, removal, and replacement of Electrical systems in compliance with international standards, equipment manufacturers' recommendations, the Rig Operation Manual, and regulations

• Carry out troubleshooting of routine faults as required. Ensure that maintenance schedules are adhered to, records are updated and that all activities are carried out in accordance with company's Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures

• Provide technical support related to electrical systems: Power Generation, Electric motors, VFD, jacking, pumps, HVAC, UPS, and lighting systems, …

• Maintain the effective management of the PVD Computerised Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to ensure utilization of Maximo to the maximum

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related

• Generally at least 03 years of experience in field

• Considerable knowledge of applicable theories, practices, and accepted office procedures.

• In-depth knowledge of electrical field

• Good knowledge of drilling rig safety, environmental, regulatory and operational requirements and procedures

• Knowledge of mechanical and electronic field

• Understanding of various phases of the operation and the impact upon maintenance and service provision

• Good English proficiency (four skills)
