Supervisor- Customs Operation

1 General Description

The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the Customs Brokerage Operation. The position isresponsible for managing his/her entire team in day-to-day operation, and he/she isresponsible for ensuring the best-of-class service deliver to internal and external customers.

This candidate is the key escalation contact in communication with internal and external customers.This candidate must have excellent communication and client management skills to maintain positive client relations. This candidate must be a self-starter, who is able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This candidate must be a team player to ensure good working cooperation between the different Business units locally and regionally.The candidate is the point of contact for the customers to provide answers for their enquiries, giving the updated status of their shipment and ensuring that the operations issues are being managed by the team that the candidate is managing. Clear communication with the customers is essential in this role to ensure that the customer knows that they are important to Schenker. The candidate must ensure that all issues will be resolved timely and must be proactive with alternative solutions to the customers.

2 Specific Accountabilities

Customs Operations

• Guide and support all functions for all related customs advisory and operations matters
• Liaise with customs authorities.
• Support the functions and business units and monitor their operative tasks to ensure legal compliance with customs and other regulations.
• Analyze breaches/irregularities, coordinate corrective actions with other functions (e.g. Products or Legal) and the BUs and take the lead for critical breaches (e.g. withdrawal of business-critical licenses).
• Perform internal reviews of adherence to country standards as well as customer SOPs with regards to customs brokerage and related taxes
• Ensure compliance with country subcontractor management policies and procedures.
• Ensure that the team will achieve a high-level of KPI and operation standard
• Ensure that the billing is completed accurately and timely and P&L is managed accurately

Subcontractor Management

• Ensure that the KPIs are achieved by the subcontractors
• Work with suppliers to improve their service if KPIs are not being met

Sales Support

• Support Sales, Air, Ocean and Logistics functions in selling Customs Services by providing expert know-how in sales and tender processes.

Process Improvement

• Contribute to defining and optimizing productivity and efficiency parameters and workflow processes.
• Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to support delivery of operational excellence and service to customers.

KPI Management

• Ensure the delivery service of the Schenker team as well as the subcontractors

HSSE

• Ensure that HSSE guidance is followed by subcontractors & staff
• Understand the HSSE policy of the company
• Ensure staff adhere to HSSE guidelines and provide guidance during new implementations
• Rectify near misses and report near misses to HSSE
• Conduct audits together with HSSE team

Skills Required

Customs knowledge/expertise and operational skills.
Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
Good mix of business and systems knowledge
Good English communication skills (listening,speaking, reading, writing).

2. Experience and Qualifications

At least 05 years in customs declaration as above and customer service skill
University graduate major in foreign trade or relevant fields: customs, logistic, transportations.
