1. Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Industrial Engineers and line mechanics.
- Assign projects, conduct performance reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning and problem-solving.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance departments to achieve shared goals.
2. Standard Setting & Method Improvement:
- Establish and maintain accurate Standard Minute Values (SMV) / Standard Allowed Minutes (SAM) for all styles and operations.
- Develop and implement best practice sewing methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
- Conduct time and motion studies (using tools like AEC or similar) to identify areas for improvement.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of operation bulletins (layout sheets) and line balancing activities.
3. Production System & Line Layout Design:
- Design, implement, and optimize production line layouts (e.g., straight line, modular/bundleless system, UPS) to maximize efficiency and reduce WIP.
- Calculate and recommend the optimal number of machines, manpower, and line capacity for new and existing styles.
- Drive the implementation of lean manufacturing principles.
4. Efficiency & Productivity Management:
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Efficiency%, Productivity, Capacity Utilization, and Hourly Target.
- Investigate and address root causes of low efficiency, bottleneck operations, and high losses.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to consistently meet or exceed efficiency targets.
5. Costing & Capacity Planning:
- Work closely with the costing department to provide accurate SMV data for garment costing.
- Provide accurate capacity plans to the planning department to ensure realistic production schedules.
- Identify and lead projects aimed at reducing manufacturing costs (labor, material, and overhead).
6. New Product Introduction & Technology:
- Partner with the sample and production teams during new product development to ensure designs are manufacturable (Design for Manufacturability - DFM).
- Pilot new styles on the production floor, setting the standard for the bulk run.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, equipment, and automation to enhance productivity.
7. Training & Development:
- Organize and conduct training sessions for line supervisors, operators, and helpers on new methods, efficiency improvement, and quality standards.
1. Education : Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Textile Engineering, or a related field.
2. Experience : Minimum of 5 - 8 years of industrial engineering experience within the garment manufacturing industry, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
3. Technical Skills :
- Expert knowledge of garment manufacturing processes (cutting, sewing, finishing, etc.).
- Proficiency in setting SMV/SAM using predetermined motion time systems (e.g., AEC or GSD).
- Strong experience in line balancing and production system design (progressive bundle, modular, QRS).
- Proven track record of implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and ERP systems. Experience with specialized IE software is a plus.
4. Soft Skills :
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities (root cause analysis, data-driven decision making).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
- Fluent in English or Chinese.
