Junior Coffee Agronomist

- Implementation of agreed crop tour methodology for crop estimation.

- Collection of primary and secondary data that will enable an assessment of both current and future production.

- Plan and execute regular crop tours to estimate the production using:

a) High-quality farmer interviews and

b) Visual yield estimation.

• Contribute to collecting coffee area data from:

a) Official sources regularly

b) Farmer interviews

c) Confirmation of area estimates through visual estimation of area changes

d) Gathering of information from third parties like research institutes, nurseries, state farms etc.

- Highlight the risks to the crop estimate by working out various scenarios. Assessment of the impact of various scenarios on yields and associated probabilities such as weather, pests, diseases and changing costs or supply of inputs or labour etc.

- Close monitoring of weather developments and long-term forecasts to update production estimates.

- Collect data related to the cost of production of coffee and its competing crops.

- Participate in stock surveys.

- Communication of the findings in the form of a well-argued crop tour report.

- Regularly analyse the trade flow data and identify the changes, update the group, and prepare comprehensive reports on a monthly basis.

• Graduate or post-graduate in Agriculture / Agronomy
• Strong knowledge in coffee agronomy, preference will be given to the candidates with relevant experience in implementing coffee crop estimation program
• Very good knowledge of MS Office in particular advanced Excel skills.
• Good communication and presentation skills in English and Vietnamese
• Should have strong desire to travel to coffee regions on regular basis for crop tours
• Strong Analytical and Statistical Skills.
• Willing to travel to the Coffee origins as required by job
• Location: Ho Chi Minh or Lam Dong
